He Will Carry You

Did you ever mess up and have people who love you remember all your failures and forget all of the great things you have done? It happens so often that we should expect it right? God goes through the same thing with us. He blesses us abundantly throughout the years but when something seems too difficult, we seem to forget all that He has gotten us through.

In today’s reading from Deuteronomy 1, we are reminded of Israel’s rebellion. Moses tries to remind them of all that God had done for them but the people continue to reject God’s instruction. They saw the Red Sea being split, a pillar of fire leading them through the night, food literally coming from the sky (like Skittles?), and water coming from rocks. Yet, when the Israelites come fact to face with the enemy, they back down and don’t trust God.

It makes me think. Perhaps the reason we have seasons of no joy, no sense of purpose, discouragement, and depression, is because we have not been trusting God. We tried to take matters into our own hands. I encourage you to remember the things God blessed you with and what He got you through. Hold onto those things and cling to His promises in Scripture. When you face a trial, difficulty, issue, or enemy, you will know that God won’t leave you. He’s just been carrying you this entire time.

Deuteronomy 1:30-31, “30 The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, 31 and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.”

 Deut 1.30-31
